As you sit at your desk, as you walk your dog, as you pay your bills, you feel that something is missing from your life. Everywhere you look you see responsibility and constraint, and while you’re glad you have a job to worry about and a roof over your head, sometimes you just wish it would all go away and be replaced with something that calms you down. It sounds like you’re in need of a vacation, specifically a vacation that will wash away your stress and scrub the residue of city life from your skin. The sand, salt, and rhythm of the beach would be an excellent way to accomplish these goals, so think about making your way to the coast before your regular routine really starts to get you down.
Obviously there are about a billion miles of coastline to choose from once you decide you’re up for a beach visit, so deciding where to park your parasol may be a challenge. If you want to make it easy on yourself, follow the well-beaten path to Florida where the peninsula stretches on and on, providing a spot for everyone who’s looking to soak up some sun. From crowded to secluded, you’ll surely see something you like. Just as pleasing are Florida’s outlying islands, namely the Keys. This too-cool-for-school group of stragglers is pretty eclectic and tends to make you feel like you’re in the Caribbean rather than the ol’ USA, so if escaping is your true wish, get yourself down here.
The high travel season is at the corner now. People from all walks of life around the world are currently busy searching for the best offers of air and land travel, accommodations, vacation packages to suit their dreams, needs and budgets. Some of them have even started to make their reservations.
Here I would like to emphasize one vitally important thing, which is a must to remember when booking a trip, but ignored by a great number of travelers.
Much has been written on the importance of having insurance coverage while you are on a trip, away from home. This is an issue that remains somewhat ignored by many travelers. After all, they have been traveling frequently for many years, and nothing happened so far to worry about. So, to buy a travel insurance should not a be a must. It is only an optional precaution!
But, reality urges us to believe traveling anywhere in the world without protection today, is a vital mistake. Regardless of where you are traveling in the world, you must have an insurance coverage to survive any unexpected attacks and disasters, especially after the 9/11 attacks in the U.S.A.
Let’s say, you have been planning the trip of your dreams for a long time; you have finally found the opportunity to make your long time dreams of a special trip come true.
Days spent splashing in pools, catching rays out on the water and relaxing on the beach are great. Unfortunately, outdoor activities can cause some extra wear and tear on the body.
Lots of people protect themselves by purchasing sunscreen, lip protectants and sunglasses. But many will forget to look after two of the most important and neglected parts of the body – the feet.
The American Podiatric Medical Association offers the following tips on how to protect your feet from saltwater, sand and other outdoor elements:
* Remember to apply sunscreen to feet, especially the tops and fronts of ankles. Don’t forget to reapply after taking a dip.
* When out of the water, wash and dry feet thoroughly, especially between the toes, and apply a topical anti-fungal medication on any cracked or itchy skin. Clean, dry feet resist disease.
* Pass up sharing towels to avoid developing athlete’s foot and other diseases that can easily be spread.
* Take special care of toenails, which can develop fungal infections around damp areas. See your podiatrist at first sign of discoloration or infection.
* If you take part in boating, fishing or other water sports, be sure to wear proper footwear. Some marine footwear products have been awarded the APMA’s Seal of Acceptance. For a full list of shoes that carry this seal, visit www.apma.org.
